Weight Loss Dr. Fernando treats all weight related problems. From those few extra pounds that you are unable to loose, to the added inches at your waistline or hips to obesity, Dr. Fernando will customize your own weight and fat loss program. Being overweight or obese can increase your risk of: Treatment of Obesity and Related Disorders Obesity is a chronic, debilitating and potentially fatal disease that requires treatment by a physician trained in Bariatric Medicine as Dr. Fernando is Board Certified in Bariatrics. Obesity is marked by an excess accumulation of fat in the body. It is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, joint disorders and even certain types of cancer. It is not caused by a lack of will power to push the plate away as many people believe. The underlying cause is often a metabolic disorder, hormonal imbalance or both. As a result many people struggle to lose weight by not eating and exercising to their limit without any success. Sadly even though obese patients have an excess of stored energy which is fat, they are unable to use it so they are constantly tired. Dr. Fernando treats this condition by getting to the root of the problem rather than by simply putting patients on diets. She also addresses any possible disorders that the obesity may have already caused. She uses medications appropriately in order to obtain optimal health for her patients. | | |

LipoTherapy Rid the body of unwanted fat and cellulite! What is LipoTherapy? Used in Europe for many years, LipoTherapy is a treatment technique to reduce localized fat deposits and cellulite, without the need for invasive surgery. What is the treatment process? A solution is injected in the fatty tissue just beneath the dermis of the skin. The solu-tion dissolves the fat, which the body then absorbs naturally (metabolizes). The micro-injections provide a non-surgical alternative to assist Avisa clients in reducing cellulite and fat. Treatment areas include: abdomen, hips, thigh, and love-handles. In addition, smaller areas include the bra bulges and under the chin. All treatments are performed by our highly qualified, medically trained staff. How does LipoTherapy work? Lipotherapy works by causing dissolution of fat cells. The fatty acids then are reabsorbed slowly and flushed from the body over a period of weeks. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) and sodium deoxycholate (DC) are injected into the areas where you want fat reduction. PC is a surfactant that is natural to the body and a component of bile acids and the membranes of all cells. DC is an emulsifier necessary to make PC into an injectable form.
What are the Lipo Therapy Results? Continued LipoTherapy treatments combined with healthy diet and regular exercise can result in creating and maintaining a new, “Avisa-sculpted” body. LipoTherapy is for people at or near their ideal weight, who have tried exercise and diet, and still find their shape needs help. Every client has a different body with different needs. The number of LipoTherapy treatments varies, as does efficacy. What is a typical LipoTherapy treatment schedule? LipoTherapy is recommended in a package of six treatments and are performed every two - three weeks. A history and medical review will be performed before the first treatment to review the clients’ medical history. The number of injections required depends on the thickness of the fat layer and individual response. The PC and DC will continue to work on dissolving fat for up to six months.
Am I a candidate for Lipo Therapy? Each Lipotherapy candidate is evaluated by one of our center nurses. However, if you have a history of heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, are pregnant or looking to become pregnant, then you would not be a candidate for Lipotherapy. How do I start my LipoTherapy treatments? Call Avisa Medical Clinic to schedule an appointment with a Avisa Consultant. We will evaluate your individual needs and determine the best course of action for your treatment.
LipoTherapy versus Mesotherapy The primary difference between Lipotherapy and Mesotherapy is the difference between fat reduction and cellulite reduction. Medicines in Mesotherapy, unlike LipoTherapy, targets the connective tissue bands, increasing fat cell membrane permeability. This decreases the appearance of cellulite, helps with blood circulation, and prevents the skin from having a sallow or orange tinge. LipoTherapy can provide cellulite reduction in extreme cases, but the medicines in LipoTherapy are used specifically to target stubborn fat deposits. Cellulite is found in those who are slender or overweight, active or sedentary. The primary cause of cellulite is thought to be hormonal. Secondary causes for cellulite include: poor circulation, diet, and smoking. LipoTherapy versus Lipodissolve Lipodissolve is a process of injecting medications in the dermis of the skin in order to reduce fat or cellulite. It is not a formula. There is no standardized lipodissolve formula. The American Society for Aesthetic Lipodissolve has standards but they are not necessarily adhered to, there is no regulation of them, and doctors can add many different ingredients into their “cocktail.” Lipotherapy on the other hand is a standard formula sanctioned by the American Society of Aesthetic Mesotherapy. It is strictly PC/DC and Lidocaine. Therefore, by using a simple standard formula, you are ensuring not only that you receive the best results but that you understand what is being injected into your body.
